Ana Paula is a trilingual (Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and English) speech-language therapist with more than 25 years of experience spanning public and private schools, home health, private practice, and higher education. Over the past decade, she has dedicated herself to academia — serving first as a Clinical Assistant Professor and then as a Program Director, Department Chair, and Associate Professor.
Her teaching has encompassed phonetics, clinical methods, articulation and language disorders at the undergraduate level and stuttering, counseling, and language disorders at the graduate level. She has also mentored the next generation of SLPs as a clinical educator, supervising services for individuals across the lifespan.
Ana Paula is the co-founder and president of Spero Stuttering, Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to helping, empowering, and advocating for the stuttering community and their families — and equipping the professionals who serve them. She also holds the Ally of Stuttering® SLP Seal through Spero Stuttering, Inc.
When she's not working, Ana Paula enjoys singing, writing, reading, and traveling with her husband and children.
Ana Paula holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Speech-Language Pathology licenses in Texas, Kansas, and Missouri, and is a member of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
